About the Canadian Social Connection Survey
The Canadian Social Connection Survey is a serial cross-sectional survey with a longitudinal sub-cohort that aims to study the social health and well-being of Canadians in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, we have collected responses from more than 11,000 participants over three years. Furthermore, nearly 500 respondents participate annually in a special subcohort designed to monitor within-person changes in social wellbeing.
This powerful study design allows us to understand the influence of social health and wellbeing on individuals and compare people from different socio-demographic groups.
We’re proud to make our data open access so that everyone benefits more!
Advantages of Open Access
Open access is a principle centred around the unrestricted sharing of information, facilitating transparency, collaboration, and the advancement of knowledge. By providing the Canadian Social Connection Survey datasets open access, we support a culture of openness and inclusivity in research. Open access ensures that data is freely available to all, breaking down barriers that often restrict the flow of information. This approach fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging diverse perspectives and innovative analyses. Additionally, open access data aligns with ethical considerations by promoting equity in information dissemination and usage.
Privacy Protection
Our data is anonymized to ensure that no participants can be identified through our open-access data sharing. Anonymization involves the removal of names, email addresses, address or geolocation information, open-text survey responses, and other potentially identifying information.
Encouraging Collaboration and Innovation
We invite researchers, educators, students, and the broader community to explore and utilize this dataset. Its open access nature not only facilitates current research endeavors but also paves the way for future innovations and discoveries. By engaging with this dataset, users contribute to a vibrant community of knowledge sharing and collective learning.
